COPPA Compliance
Effective Date: December 27, 2025
1. Our Commitment to Children's Privacy
The Good Parent (TGP) is committed to complying with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We understand the importance of protecting children's privacy and take our responsibilities seriously.
2. What is COPPA?
COPPA is a U.S. federal law designed to protect the privacy of children under 13 years old. It requires operators of websites and online services to obtain verifiable parental consent before collecting personal information from children.
3. How We Comply
- Parental Consent: We obtain verifiable parental consent before collecting any information from or about children. You verify your identity through our payment verification process or email confirmation
- Direct Notice: Parents receive clear notice about what information is collected and how it is used
- Parental Control: Parents can review, modify, or delete their child's information at any time
- Data Minimization: We only collect information necessary to provide our parental monitoring services
- Security: All data is encrypted at rest and in transit. We take security seriously and conduct regular audits
- No Third-Party Tracking: We do not allow third-party advertising networks to collect data from Child Users' devices
4. Information Collected About Children
Without COPPA Consent
Only device time limits can be enforced without collecting personal information.
With Parental Consent
All other monitoring features require verifiable parental consent before activation. When consent is obtained, we may collect:
- Child Profile: Child's name and age (for profile setup)
- Device Information: Device model, OS version, and unique identifiers
- App Usage: List of installed applications and time spent on each
- Screen Time: Total active screen time and session durations
- Web History: URLs visited, search terms, and timestamps
- Location Data: GPS coordinates for location tracking and geofencing
- Screenshots: Periodic captures of screen content for safety monitoring
Features Disabled by Default: All monitoring features are disabled by default and must be individually enabled by the parent after providing verifiable consent.
5. Parental Rights
Parents have the right to:
- Review: Access all information collected about their child via the TGP dashboard
- Delete: Request deletion of their child's information at any time
- Refuse: Refuse further collection of their child's information
- Modify: Change monitoring settings at any time
To exercise these rights, use the TGP dashboard or contact us at privacy@tgpcontrols.com.
6. Data Retention
- Data retention periods are determined by your subscription plan tier
- Data older than your plan's retention limit is automatically and permanently deleted
- When you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed from our systems
